DnDHey, let's talk about DnD, like how I need a new group seeing as how my current group spends half the time laughing our asses off. I like a few laughs, but I do want some seriousness too.
Or we can talk about other DnD related stuff, like characters, classes, races, deities, and stuff like that.

Good Luck on finding a group. They are a bit difficult to locate.
But what do you want to know or discuss?

How about the dragon blooded races I was reading about yesterday. Like the Frost blood orcs, or fireblood dwarfs, then theres the forestlord elves...

What? Ginpu and I are the only ones with anything to say about DnD? Yeash, that's sad.
Anyway, yeah, talking about the dragonblood characters would be nice. And about http://dnd.columbusgaming.com/ like how come I can't register for it.

I've never actually played a whole game, because I didn't know you could play it over the internet and... there are very few fans of DnD to be found...
Also furries, magic, comics, etc...

You don't need a login with the /books/ at the end. I've never needed to log in. I think if you don't know how to get to it the way I do, it's just a thing to deter you.
Though I guess I need to look into the dragon blooded race thing. It's not a book I have, so I cannot speak so well of it.
I would gladly run us a game through Fantasy Grounds over the internet. The problem is, EVERYONE needs to agree on a day and time and be there on that day and time reliably to play. We can't even get people on a forum reliably.
You also eventually have to purchase Fantasy Grounds. You can download the demo for free. http://www.fantasygrounds.com/

Hmm, yes, well, I'm broke, so that doesn't work.
Back to the website, I've noticed that it doesn't have the newer books like the complete champion or the complete scoundrel.

I'd gladly join once I'm set up and in college. That will be in three to four weeks. Classes start the 20th.

The site is graciously hosted by someone who took the time to scan in all the books and set them up as downloadable PDFs for us poor bastards to read. Sadly, I cannot comfort you in your moment here. All you can do is wait till they get to it, or go buy it. Technically them hosting them is...not legal.
They may have it up soon, or maybe never? I can't say.
((and since there is hostility on the boards this evening, I would like to point out this is not hostile at all. It's just... there. Don't read into it. You'll just hurt yourself, as there is nothing to read into. LOL))

In regards to Fantasy Grounds, it's not too expensive to purchase a license if I recall correctly. You can always download the demo, mess around with it and see if you could even deal with it to start with. =)
It's also an easy way to roll dice without buying them. LOL

Hmm, is it a monthly thing, or one time payment?
Ok, and going back to DnD, How much do you know about the deities?
|

Clerics and deities were never my specialty, but I can find the answers or look into it easily enough.
Boyfriend is looking over the notes on the update to Fantasy Grounds. He's liking what he reads, which is a VERY good thing.
You buy the lite version once. If you every want to run a game, you need the full version. I highly suggest just the lite version until you are much much better versed with D20 and DnD in general. Even reading the DMG (Dungeon Masters Guide) 10x still wouldn't prepare you for the unexpected things a player can throw at you. LOL

So if I wanted the full version, it'd be a monthly payment?

If it was a monthly payment, I'd stick to WOW. Which I haven't even played yet. Same with DND as lack of DNDers. Sometimes I was interested, but we have no stereotypical geeks where I live. I'm the closest you'll find. I don't even play DND.
|
ginpu

No. No monthly, whatsoever. Go look at the website for it.

Damn, I forgot to reply to this.'
Anyway, thank you for telling me. Back to DnD. You know the Eberron books? There's a certain race in those books called the warforged. I think they kick ass and even though they're more than likely hard to RP as, make good RP characters because of their wanting to fit in society. What do you think?
|
ginpu
|
I think it shouldn't be hard for someone to RP a warforged character. But there are many someones and some of those someones may have an easier time, while some of those someones may have a harder time.
I think if the someone is one that has a harder time RPing outside of their Real Life nature, they would not be able to RP a warforged.
The thing with RPing is you have to want to be the character you created to RP it better. If you want the character to be you, that's really not RPing. What's the point of RPing yourself? Not much of one if you ask me.
So the key is that you have to WANT to be that character. Usually characters are different then yourself, or accentuate one of your more hidden personalities/traits.
Does that make any sense?

Spirit Wolf

As soon as my head stops spinning, I'm sure it will.
Yes, it does make sense. I think it'd be hard to play as a warforged because You're playing a character that's new to freedom, and that isn't at war with anyone, so their kinda lost. I don't know, I think it's just me. But the reason I like the warforged is because of their history. Yes, I do read the history of races, don't act shocked.
|
ginpu
|
Most the characters in Irallia were like the warforged. Many of them just found that freedom.
Not shocked that you read the histories. I only hope that when a topic is brought up that you know what you are talking about. LOL

Dragonblooded. and those races wow. you do realize those races are fairy folk and well lets just say they are really strong. and well the dragon blooded and that fairy folk don't normally get along. there have been many warz between the two. and either it's a standstill or a slaughter for the dragon blooded.
