I just throw up other things there. Things I doodle or things not related to the comic. I wish I had more time though.

or at my website http://www.ginpu.us

(Psst... click everyday, I need the votes, well actually I just want a push up the list to further spread the existence of my comic.)

I scribbled this one last night, waiting for posts.

I used the Sketcher program available at Art Grounds. I missed photoshop so much. Sketcher is limited. But I wanted to try it out and scribble with other people. I didn't really pay attention to what else was going on. LOL
Spirit Wolf

Nice, I like it.

Little something I did yesterday on my boards to try and explain layers, but I think I failed, but I still felt I should share here. I can't call it an exact tutorial, but at least it gives you the idea of the things that go into creating digital art.

This is a pic of Taka that I actually sketched in pencil and used in the following week's comic. Lately I haven't sketched on paper. Haven't for a bit now. I make such a mess, and well, the pencil shot even proves how messy I can be with pencils. Course if I broke down the layers of Kit's breakdown, you'd see all sorts of colored sketchy lines. That one was all in photoshop. heh. This one was one of the simpler ones.

We start with scanning in the pencil. Ooooh.

Using the tablet, we trace over the outlines in black. I put a white background to make it easier to see.

From the white, we make a new layer, and color in the picture. I dodged a few strands of hair, and dodged and burned the eyes to create the gradient look.

Next I made another layer, for the shadows.

Another layer later, I add the highlight chunks to the hair, and darkened the edges of his hair.

I reselected the outline layer, created a new layer, and added the highlights for the eyes.

Course you can also see that I do things in pencil occasionally and not all always on the computer to start with. heh. But each time something was added, it was on it's own layer, that way I can screw around with it later if I need to. Say like I get lazy and want to reuse the pose, but want a different facial expression. I just modify those few parts on the layers and done!

I do something like that:

1. I scribble with pencil

2. I erase parts and redo them

3. I trace it with a second paper over the first one against my computer screen (to remove erase marks)

4. I color it

5. I scan it

6. I obsess about it

7. I forget about it (this is the most important part)

I can't call this a scribble, but I did put up a second comic today. and then I added 2 things on deviant art in my scraps.

I don't usually share my work with the world, but these two things are note worthy as they have both gotten me awards. One national and one state wide. I also have another award company wide but that's a little one. heh. Each yeah I have been there so far I have won something. Guess I am off to a good start. Also helps with raises. =)

Well, congratulations on both achieving such honors and working to help a worthy cause. I bet making a difference like that feels good, eh?
Spirit Wolf

Congrats.

You can't even drink beer...
Spirit Wolf

It's only illegal if you get caught.
ginpu

I have a bottle of wine. who needs beer?

The first one, like I said on the scrap, I really am not impressed with it still. But someone liked it enough to give me an award. LOL

I LOVE the second one. This past year. few tricks and smecksy!
